Reminder: The minimum gross salary increases

Minimum gross salary 2014The national guaranteed minimum gross salary shall be of 900 lei per month, for a complete working schedule of 168 hours as monthly average in 2014, from July 1, 2014, by Government Decision no. 871/2013.

The minimum amount of an hour of work, for a full program, is 5,357 lei / hour.

It is the second time this year when the minimum salary increases after the increase from 1 January 2014.

This increase should be reported in ReviSal by all employers that have emplyees paid with the minimum salary. Otherwise, the labor inspectors can give fines between 5000 and 8000 lei.

The minimum salary, modified in ReviSal by addendum

Any change in ReviSal must be based on a document. In this sense, the change in the minimum wage will be issued, for each employee, an addendum.

In this context, the term for registration of change in Revisal is of maximum 19 working days, so until July 25, 2014, according to art. 17, paragraph 5 of the Labor Code.

Changes brought by the minimum salary on computation bases

The level of the national minimum gross salary has effects over computation bases of certain mandatory social contributions and sick leaves of absence computation base. The basis for the contribution of insurance for work accidents and occupational diseases changes – the formula is given by:

Gross salary – total amount of sick leave + (minimum gross salary * (sick leave days – sick leave days for accidents and occupational diseases) / working days

The sick leave allowance is calculated by applying the percentage of sick leave (75%, 85% or 100%, depending on the code of allowance of the medical certificate) to the computation base determined as the average monthly income in the last six months of the 12 months of contribution. The maximum calculation base is 12 national minimum salaries per month. Thus, with the increase of minimum wage, and this boundary change.

In addition, the monthly payment to the state budget to disability fund (for cases where the company with at least 50 employees has no employed people with disabilities at a rate of at least 4%) is increased. The monthly payment amount is 50% of the gross minimum salary, multiplied by the number of jobs in which people with disabilities are not employed, according to law 448/2006.
