The deadline for providing certain benefits to employees and employers in the context of the epidemiological situation caused by the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, as well as to stimulate employment growth, has been extended until June 30, 2021.
Clarifications regarding these measures have been stipulated in Law 282/2020, which approves Government Emergency Ordinance no. 132/2020, effective from December 12. The extension of the applicability of fiscal measures has been stipulated in Emergency Ordinance no. 211/2020, effective from December 7, and the procedure for reimbursement and payment of the amounts granted has been regulated by Decision no. 1046/2020, effective from December 9.
The support measures extended until June 30, 2021, include:
– Granting compensation for reduced working hours for employees and compensation for the reduction of activity for professionals (Emergency Ordinance no. 132/2020);
– Granting technical unemployment benefits for employees and other categories of professionals (Emergency Ordinance no. 30/2020) in sectors restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Clarifications brought to Emergency Ordinance 132/2020 and the support measures targeted by these changes include:
– The procedure that employers must follow to reimburse from the unemployment insurance budget the compensation paid to employees as a result of reduced working hours;
– The unemployment insurance regime for the period during which this measure is applied to employees;
– The necessary conditions for employers to apply for the financial support of 2,500 RON granted for each teleworker.
