As we already know, at the beginning of October, it was decided to increase the minimum wage. Thus, according to Government Decision no. 1,071 of 2021, published in the Official Gazette on October 5, the gross minimum wage will increase from 2,300 lei, as it is currently, to 2,550 lei, starting January 1, 2022. This means an increase of 250 lei in the gross monthly minimum wage, representing a 10.9% rise from the current value.
How much will the “take-home” pay increase from January 1, 2022?
Currently, the gross minimum basic salary nationwide, guaranteed in payment, is set at 2,300 lei per month for a full working schedule of 169.333 hours on average per month in 2021, representing 13.583 lei/hour, in accordance with Government Decision no. 4/2021.
Referring to the net minimum wage, its current value is 1,386 lei.
Starting January 1, 2022, the gross minimum basic salary nationwide, guaranteed in payment, will be 2,550 lei per month, excluding bonuses and other allowances, for a normal working schedule averaging 167.333 hours per month, representing 15.239 lei/hour, according to Government Decision no. 1,071 of 2021.
Automatically, the net minimum wage will also increase, so a person paid the minimum wage will receive a “take-home” amount of 1,524 lei, which is 138 lei more than at present.
It should be noted that the differentiated gross minimum wage for employees with higher education, which is currently 2,350 lei, will disappear starting next year.
The last increase in the gross minimum wage occurred at the beginning of 2021, when it rose by 70 lei, from 2,230 lei to 2,300 lei.
