Starting January 1, 2020, the gross minimum basic wage in the economy will increase to 2,230 lei per month (excluding bonuses and allowances) for a standard working schedule averaging 167.333 hours per month, which equates to 13.327 lei/hour. This decision was published in the Official Gazette Part I No. 1010 on 12/16/2019.

Individuals with higher education degrees, who have at least one year of experience in their field of study, will be paid, starting from the same date, a salary of 2,350 lei per month for a standard working schedule averaging 167.333 hours per month, which equates to 14.044 lei/hour.

This is the first adjustment to the minimum wage in the economy, guaranteed in payment, following the increase on January 1, 2019, to 2,080 lei.
