Starting from July 1, 2024, the guaranteed minimum gross base salary in Romania is set in monetary terms, excluding allowances, bonuses, and other supplements, at the amount of 3,700 lei per month.
Emergency Ordinance no. 59/2024, published in the Official Gazette on June 7, 2024, stipulates an increase of 400 lei gross, up from the current 3,300 lei. After the increase, employees paid the minimum wage will earn an additional 285 lei net.
However, this increase does not apply to agricultural or food industry workers, as the existing legal provisions apply to these categories.
Additionally, at the request of the business environment, the monthly non-taxable amount has been raised from 200 lei to 300 lei. This amount represents income from salaries and salary-related items that are not subject to income tax and are not included in the monthly calculation base for mandatory social contributions.
